Gray Davis: Thug Life
From Oraculations via Instapundit:
The further problem is that the Union Thugs are funded by a $4,000,000 grant from the government.
On Saturday, several peaceful Recall Gray Davis protestors were brutally beaten, kicked, punched and tackled to the ground by union workers who were attending a taxpayer-funded workshop, WAR - (“Workers Against the Recall).” A 20-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were among those who were terrorized.
According to a communication from Channel 40, no charges have been placed against the Union thugs. The victims can only seek redress in civil courts. You cannot challenge the unions in Sacramento, and it is they alone that benefited from the Davis/Democrat/lap dog Republican pols.
Unacceptable. Say goodbye Gray, you're an awful human being.
[Update]
Spoke with Fox 40 (KXTL) this afternoon, calling their news department to confirm the story and request a taped copy of the segment. I called their News desk and spoke with a very helpful woman. She could not confirm the facts of the story, however she did say that it ran on their 10pm newscast on 9 August, 2003. Tape copies can be requested from Slack Video Service at 916.351.0424 referencing Sac Demonstration. Their news director, Steve Kraysik is on vacation through next Wednesday and could not be reached for further comment.
[Update 2]
Thanks to Tiffany who found this article at the Sacramento Bee. Daniel Weintraub said: "There was definitely an attempt by Gray's union supporters to intimidate the recall supporters. A handful of the Davis forces crossed the street and rushed the pro-recall group, at one point surrounding one of the recall supporters. Teri O'Rourke, a spokeswoman for Recall Gray Davis Committee, said one member of the group was injured when he was hit in the back and kicked in the leg."
[Update 3]
You can download the Recall Fight Press Release from the Recall Gray Davis campaign, complete with screen capture from the incident. It's a Word Document, but if you'd like PDF, that can be arranged.

The TV station mentioned in the blog entry isn't running the beating story on their website. Given the history of union protests turning violent, however, I don't find it that hard to believe.
As for the money, allegations are being made that the University of California's Institute for Labor and Employment, which received $4M from the state this year, is giving money to Workers Against Recall. Workers Against Recall is, of course, denying it.

There are few things as dangerous as a politician and his supporters on the verge of losing power.

You have more documentation than I do but Channel 40 ran it. Nice job. I couldn't download their feed for some reason and blogspot doesn't run photos. They confirmed via email that they ran the story. They also confirmed my quotes. They further told me no arrests had been made and that the victims would have to sue to get anything.
I inferred from the rermarks that the Union would produce a hundred witnesses that would say they were attacked first.
