Comcast is Sucktastic

So, I had an awful experience with Comcast a year ago and left their high-priced service for the joys of DirecTV. So, Courtney's in the process of doing the same thing. Just look at her experience this week. These guys are jerks. And worse yet, they've got a monopoly.

Bastards.

Hmm....sounds like a bad deal all around. Can you explain the whole Monopoly thing to me though. I've heard this a lot about the cable company being a monopoly, but a monopoly of cable, or a monopoly on broadband, or a monopoly on internet in general? I only ask because I've heard the monopoly on the internet thing before, but people have failed to realize there are literally hundreds of dial-up isps, DSL, Wireless, Satellite, etc.

I have also heard about Comcast service going down the toilet since their merger with AT&T broadband. Glad I work for a more conservative cable/broadband provider.

Mainly I meant the TV/Internet combo deal. They cut you a break no one else can match, really. Since cable companies tend to be neighborhood-based, you can only get one cable tv company in one area, thusly, you're stuck with whichever bozos run the cable to your house or apartment building. DirecTV is great, but you can't get good internet from them. So, you're stuck. Cable and Internet together for cheap, or DirecTV and DSL for a little bit more scratch.
